The return of Taylor Momsena acting was ruled out for those who identify her both for her role in Gossip Girl and for her interpretation of Cindy Lou Who in the film The Grinch.
The artist herself dispelled doubts about her professional future by reaffirming her commitment to music and clarifying that film sets are no longer part of her plans.
In an exclusive interview with the American portal People, the 32-year-old singer answered directly if she would consider acting again after leaving behind two of the most recognized projects of her career.
“No. I have learned to never say never in life, because that life is too strange,” he said.
Although she recognized that life can bring surprises, she was emphatic in explaining that “it is not something I want to pursue.”
When asked if she would accept a proposal for a reboot of one of her series or films, as long as the script was sufficiently attractive, Momsen ruled out the possibility.
“I think I’m fine. I think I’m going to go on tour with AC/DC,” he responded, alluding to the international agenda he maintains with his band The Pretty Reckless.
In that sense, he explained the reasons for his choice and the satisfaction that his present gave him: “I’m having a very good time in life. I love making music.”
He differentiated between his two passions and explained that acting was “something from childhood,” while music is a personal search.
“There is no character involved,” he told the magazine about his current activity.
Momsen detailed the background of her decision and the importance of autonomy: “I don’t like being anyone’s pawn. I like being in control. I like writing the script. I like writing songs. That’s everything.”
Thus, the singer confirmed that her path remained far from filming, prioritizing the freedom and authorship that music provides her.
The character of Cindy Lou Who in The Grinch defined Taylor Momsen’s initial journey and her relationship with the public.
The figure of tenderness and hope in the film version released in 2000 led her to share the scene with Jim Carrey.
The impact of that film remained valid. In another conversation with People, Momsen recounted what her reunion with Carrey was like, 25 years later, during the Rock Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
The event had deep personal connotations for the artist, who described it as “absolutely incredible, universally aligned, mind-blowing and wonderful.”
In his words, “seeing him again was the most wonderful thing that could have happened. He was the same guy. I didn’t know what to expect because 25 years had passed.”
The moment of the hug between the two was especially emotional.
The retired actress defined it as an “overwhelming warmth” and used an intimate image to describe it: “I felt at home.”
In addition, he said on other occasions that he never felt afraid of the Grinch character, unlike many children of his generation.
For her, “Jim Carrey is the Grinch.”He even revealed on the Call HerDaddy podcast that during filming he never knew what the actor was like physically.
“I didn’t know who Jim was until the premiere, when someone pointed him out to me and I thought, ‘Oh, this is Jim,’” he said.
The relationship with Jim Carrey was always marked by trust and care.
Taylor Momsen recalled that the actor “was very protective of me. He was very kind, super funny, very upbeat, absolutely great.”
The filming, directed by Ron Howard, involved long hours of makeup and transformation for the star, who went so far as to say that “sitting in the suit was no fun, but acting in it was incredible.”
