Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi fired up PTI supporters in Kohat on Sunday, calling on them to stay alert for a possible protest and revealing that the party is gearing up for another big push for “Haqiqi Azadi” against the current government.
Addressing a charged crowd, Afridi described the moment as a turning point, sharing a message from jailed PTI founder Imran Khan and warning that any future movement won’t come cheap.
“If we step out this time, we’ll either come back free or not at all,” Afridi declared.
He revealed that Imran Khan had handed over major decisions—including talks with the government and protest calls—to Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) Chairman Mehmood Khan Achakzai and Senator Allama Raja Nasir Abbas. These two, alongside PTI, are part of the opposition alliance Tehreek-e-Tahafuz Ayeen-e-Pakistan (TTAP) and have been nominated as opposition leaders in both the National Assembly and the Senate.
Afridi said he met them and promised full support. “Whenever a call comes, you have to be ready. Together, we’ll claim Haqiqi Azadi from these rulers,” he told supporters.
Slamming institutions and the government, Afridi accused them of trying to wipe out PTI, and said the judiciary has turned a blind eye to the party’s complaints.
“Those who should protect us become our attackers, and those meant to protect our mandate have stolen it. What choices do we have?” he asked the crowd.
Afridi didn’t spare political rivals either. He pointed at Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, who he said tried giving him advice, but argued that she should focus on her own province instead.
“Should I listen to them now?” he said. “Our leader is Imran, and we’ll follow only him—his policy, his rule.”
Citing a new survey, Afridi claimed Punjab’s police is now the most corrupt department in Pakistan. He urged citizens to report any corruption, pledging his K-P government would act fast. He also ordered local administrations to be responsive and open to the public.
Aftab Alam Afridi, Provincial Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Human Rights, revealed Imran Khan’s family and the chief minister himself have been barred from meeting the jailed PTI founder. He criticized
