Ahsan Yaseen, an 18-year-old Pakistani student, has given Pakistan a cause for celebration by winning the Youth Camel Race at the prestigious 54th Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Camel Racing Festival in Sharjah.
Living in Dubai and juggling his engineering studies, Ahsan went head-to-head with some of the top Arab camel racers, many of whom brought years of experience to the event. Against all expectations, he powered through the competition to grab first place, collecting the coveted Golden Camel Trophy along with a cash prize of 50,000 dirhams.
The challenge took place at Al Dhaid Camel Racing Track and spanned a demanding 2 kilometers. Ahsan started in sixth place—not exactly the strongest position—but he made a remarkable comeback. With a cool head and determined spirit, he overtook his competitors one by one, crossing the finish line in just 3 minutes and 47 seconds.
Camel racing isn’t just a sport in the region; it’s rooted deep in Arab culture and heritage. So for a young Pakistani to not only compete but claim victory at such a renowned festival makes this accomplishment extraordinary and historic.
Ahsan Yaseen’s victory shines a spotlight on the potential of Pakistani youngsters in international sports and serves as a big inspiration to youth everywhere.
