The arrival of Masters of the Universe to the big screen is the result of an extensive process full of difficulties.Since 2010, the project has gone through several studios, directors and multiple script rewrites, finally consolidating at Amazon MGM towards the end of 2023. Travis Knight took over the direction and Chris Butler was in charge of the script, based on a story developed together with brothers Adam and Aaron Nee, Alex Litvak and Michael Finch.

Principal photography began in London in January 2025, with support from Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Mattel Films and Escape Artists.Beyond overcoming creative obstacles, the project stands out for bringing together producers with extensive experience, such as Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Robbie Brenner, Steve Tisch and DeVon Franklin, which reinforces the ambitious and global nature of the initiative.

The premiere of Masters of the Universe represents the return of He-Man, an emblematic figure of pop culture who, after almost four decades without a presence in the cinema, seeks to attract new audiences and original followers. For the generations that grew up with the series, the news generates a strong expectation of reuniting with the characters that were part of their childhood.

The choice of young and renowned actors such as Nicholas Galitzine and Camila Mendes, along with figures such as Idris Elba and Jared Leto, reflects the intention to renew the franchise and make it attractive to today’s audiences without sacrificing the elements that made it popular.A production that has faced obstacles and changes for more than a decade highlights the complexity of adapting classics to contemporary standards and satisfying both nostalgic fans and a more diverse and demanding audience.
