Marc Anthony reacts to Beckham family drama: “It’s extremely unfortunate”

Marc Anthony broke his silence on the tension that the Beckham family is currently going through, after Brooklyn Beckham made a series of statements that shook public opinion and revived a family conflict that had been the subject of rumors for months.

The singer, a close friend of the Beckham family for decades, referred to the issue in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter and did not hide his concern about the way the situation has developed.

“They are a wonderful family. I have known them since before the children were born. I am Cruz’s godfather and I have a very close relationship with all of them,” he said.

However, the artist made it clear that he does not intend to take sides or delve into the details of the conflict.

“I have nothing to say about what happened there. It’s extremely unfortunate how it’s unfolding, but how it’s being told is barely even close to the truth,” he added.

Marc Anthony’s words come weeks after Brooklyn Beckham, the eldest son of David and Victoria Beckham, broke his silence through a series of stories published on Instagram on January 19.

In them, the young man accused his parents and part of his family of controlling him for most of his life and of having unfairly treated his wife, actress Nicola Peltz, whom he married in April 2022.

“The narrative that my wife controls me is completely backwards. I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life. I grew up with overwhelming anxiety and for the first time since I moved away from my family, that anxiety is gone,” he wrote.

In his messages, the photographer also claimed to have found peace and emotional stability with Nicola, and maintained that they both want a life away from media pressure, focused on privacy and happiness.

Among the most delicate accusations, Brooklyn also recounted an episode that occurred during her wedding, which would directly involve her mother, Victoria Beckham, and Marc Anthony.

According to his version, the singer was scheduled to call him on stage to dedicate a romantic song to him and Nicola.

However, he claimed that his mother interrupted the moment to dance with him inappropriately in front of the guests.“I have never felt so uncomfortable and humiliated in my entire life,” he wrote.

The episode was recalled in May 2025 by a source close to the family in statements to PEOPLE magazine.According to that testimony, Marc Anthony would have announced from the stage: “The most beautiful woman in the room tonight, come up…Victoria Beckham!”, which would have generated absolute silence among the attendees and caused Nicola to leave the room in tears.

However, another source present at the wedding offered a much more moderate version, ensuring that it was a relaxed moment, in which several members of the family danced and the atmosphere was festive.
