Karachi’s Top Science Centres Just Got Official Museum Status!

Karachi’s leading educational hotspots, TDF MagnifiScience Centre and TDF Ghar, have officially been declared museums by the Sindh government. The Dawood Foundation celebrated this big news on Wednesday, sharing the announcement through a statement on their Instagram.

According to the statement, “This recognition celebrates their contribution to preserving heritage, inspiring curiosity and making culture and science accessible to all in Karachi.” The foundation also thanked the authorities for the honor and promised to keep working towards “advancing public learning through culture, science and heritage.”

TDF Ghar, often called Karachi’s first living museum, holds a special place in the city’s heart as one of its most popular informal learning spots. Housed in a classic 1930s bungalow on MA Jinnah Road, it has grown into a lively venue for events, study sessions, and all kinds of exhibitions.

Locals have praised TDF Ghar as a unique place to hang out, blending the feel of a community centre with the charm of old Karachi. Its rooftop, with breathtaking views of Jinnah’s Mausoleum, makes it an even more appealing spot for visitors.

On the science front, TDF MagnifiScience Centre stands out as Pakistan’s first modern and interactive science centre. It’s designed for hands-on learning that attracts people of all ages and backgrounds. Known for its fun and engaging atmosphere, it’s become a go-to destination for school trips, where interactive exhibits spark curiosity and encourage scientific thinking.

This landmark achievement is a major boost for Karachi’s growing cultural and educational scene, making the city even more vibrant and exciting for learners and visitors alike.
