Juliana Aidén Martinez spoke for the first time about the possibility of returning to Law & Order: Special Victims Unit after her departure from the series and joining the cast of FBI, the CBS police drama set in the same television universe created by producer Dick Wolf.
In exclusive statements to Us Weekly, the actress — who played junior detective Kate Silva in season 26 — said that she does not rule out reprising the character in the future.
“It was a great time I had with the cast of the Special Victims Unit. I would never say never. It was a really wonderful experience that I was able to have with everyone there,” he said.
Although she left the door open to an eventual reappearance, Martinez clarified that she is currently focused on her new role as Eva Ramos in FBI.
“It would never be a situation in which I would say no. But I am also very happy here telling the story of Eva Ramos. I am open to whatever comes, but I am also very happy where I am,” she explained.
It should be remembered that the actress joined Law and Order in its twenty-sixth season. His departure coincided with that of Octavio Pisano, who played Detective Joe Velasco since season 23.
Both Law and Order and FBI are part of Dick Wolf’s television universe, which opens the possibility of narrative crossovers between both productions.
Asked about an eventual crossover that would involve the coexistence of her two characters, Juliana Aidén Martinez expressed interest, although she recognized the logistical and narrative complexity that it would imply.”I would love it. It would be very, very interesting,” he said.
However, he added that it probably would not be feasible to play Kate and Eva simultaneously in the same story.“Maybe he would just be out that week,” he commented, suggesting that he could be absent from one of the series during an eventual crossover.
Regarding her experience on Law and Order, the actress highlighted the historical weight of the production, which has been on the air for more than two decades. He recalled the feeling of entering a set with a consolidated history and the impact generated by working on a series that has been broadcast for 26 years.
In contrast, he described FBI, which premiered in 2018 and is currently in its eighth season, as a production with its own identity within the procedural genre.
FBI focuses on the operation of the criminal division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation office in New York and follows the work of its agents in solving different cases to guarantee the security of the city.
Before joining the cast, Juliana Aidén Martinez held a meeting with showrunner Mike Weiss to learn the vision of Eva Ramos’s character. As he explained, that conversation was decisive in accepting the role.
The actress stressed that she was interested in playing a character with a different profile than Kate Silva.Eva comes from a background linked to the prosecutor’s office, which, according to Martinez, influences the way she approaches cases and interacts with her colleagues.
He highlighted that the character has a direct and confident personality, and that he differs from his previous role both professionally and personally.
Juliana Aidén Martinez also pointed out that the change of series allowed her to explore new dimensions of physical work on screen. “It is demanding, but it is something that I like to do,” she indicated.
