Two of the most feared Viltrumites in the cosmos, Anissa and Lucan, join as playable characters in Invincible VS, the upcoming fighting title developed by Quarter Up and published by Skybound Games. The official launch is scheduled for April 30 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC.
Anissa, known among fans of the comic and the series for her loyalty and cruelty in the service of the Viltrumite Empire, now joins the group of fighters as a powerful Striker. He has exceptional speed and strength even among those of his race, and his style stands out for direct combat, using multiple attacks, rapid movements and combinations designed to maintain pressure on the rival.Their techniques range from quick strikes to ground-level combos, challenging both the skill and stamina of digital opponents.
Lucan, on the other hand, represents the most extreme brutality in the Invincible universe. With a rigid mentality and obvious arrogance, he despises hybrids and species other than the Viltrumites, justifying violence under the severe code of his people. In the game, Lucan distinguishes himself as a Grappler, specializing in grabs, throws and powerful low-level attacks. His style is influenced by classic hand-to-hand combat techniques, including moves inspired by spine breaks and takedowns, and requires the player to manage the space and pace of combat precisely to take full advantage of his physical advantage.
The inclusion of Anissa and Lucan not only expands the tactical options in Invincible VS, but also shows the growing relevance of the Viltrumites in recent tales of the franchise, both in the fourth season of the series and in the Battle Beast arcs in the comic.
Co-creator Robert Kirkman noted that the Viltrumites have never had as much presence in the Invincible universe as they do now, and anticipated that 2026 could be a turning point in the narrative and in audience response.
With thirteen confirmed characters, the community of followers of the saga is debating which emblematic figures will occupy the five remaining places in the cast. Social networks and forums have been scenarios for multiple hypotheses about the possible selections, while some observe a clear tendency in the game to give priority to characters with great destructive capabilities and morally complex backgrounds.
The decisions by Skybound Games and Quarter Up seem aimed at satisfying both long-time fans of the original comic and new audiences attracted to the series and the growing phenomenon of popularly licensed fighting games.
