Holocaust Hero and Anne Frank’s Step-Sister, Eva Schloss, Passes Away at 96

Eva Schloss, best known as the Auschwitz survivor who became a passionate campaigner for Holocaust education and awareness, has died at the age of 96. Schloss was also famously the step-sister of Anne Frank, the iconic diarist whose story touched millions around the world. Her foundation confirmed her passing on Sunday.

Her family shared their deep sorrow, calling her “a remarkable woman: an Auschwitz survivor, a devoted Holocaust educator, tireless in her work for remembrance, understanding and peace.” They described her commitment to sharing her story and ensuring the lessons of the Holocaust were never forgotten.

King Charles III, who once shared a dance with Schloss at a London event in 2022, and his wife Camilla, who serves as patron of the Anne Frank Trust UK founded by Schloss, also paid tribute. In a statement, the royal couple said they were “greatly saddened” and added, “We are both privileged and proud to have known her and we admired her deeply.”

Schloss leaves behind a legacy of courage, education, and hope that will continue to inspire generations.
