Capcom updates the sales numbers of its main franchises

Capcom has updated, after its latest financial report as of December 31, 2025, the list of its well-known “Platinum Titles”, those productions that have exceeded one million copies sold. The data shows a prominent role for the Resident Evil saga, especially due to the performance of Resident Evil 4Remake, which added 1.1 million units in the last quarter. On the other hand, Monster Hunter Wilds, the latest installment of its renowned saga, presents a notable decrease in the sales rate despite having reached 11 million total copies.

At the close of the period, Resident Evil 4 Remake not only led Capcom’s quarterly sales, but also cemented its place as one of the most successful titles in its history, accumulating 12.2 million units sold.Other titles in the franchise, such as Resident Evil Village, added 700,000 units in the same period, reaching 13.5 million in total. For its part, Resident Evil 2 Remake also remained strong, adding 500,000 units (16.8 million in total), which reaffirms the relevance of the series.

Street Fighter 6, one of Capcom’s most popular releases, achieved 600,000 additional sales in the quarter, with 6.3 million since its release.Devil May Cry 5, although with less media presence recently, demonstrated strength by reaching 11 million total copies after selling 300,000 additional units.

The Monster Hunter saga, which years ago dominated the company’s annual reports, shows signs of slowing down with Monster Hunter Wilds, the latest title, which barely added 300,000 new units since September and adds 11 million in total.Monster Hunter Rise also showed moderate growth, increasing its sales by 400,000 copies and thus reaching 18.2 million.

The sales of the main franchises generate both challenges and certainties for Capcom in the short term.Resident Evil is consolidated as the axis of the company’s future results, supporting investments in expansions and new content. The resurgence and success of recent remakes and releases highlights the saga’s continued appeal to both veteran players and new generations.

In contrast, the slowdown of Monster Hunter Wilds has generated concern in the community. After a promising start in February 2025, the saga shows signs of exhaustion or saturation, which could lead the company to rethink its marketing and development approaches to retain its users. This trend is also visible in other titles in the same line: despite its historic sales volumes, the pace decreases quarter after quarter.

For players, these figures have clear consequences. The prominence of releases such as Resident Evil 4 Remake and the expectation generated by future titles favor greater investment by Capcom in optimizing the experience, launching expansions and maintaining interest through updates. Thus, players have a constant flow of new features, such as downloadable content, special events and periodic improvements.

On the other hand, the slowdown in Monster Hunter Wilds could affect the frequency and number of updates offered, as well as long-term support for these versions.Analysts point out that a decrease in sales tends to translate into less support and a decrease in large campaigns, although alternatives are sought such as new downloadable content, temporary collaborations or the development of spin-offs to reactivate attention.

Looking ahead, Capcom has already announced the release of titles such as Pragmata and Onimusha: Way of the Sword, along with the highly anticipated Resident EvilRequiem. The performance of these projects can decisively influence the company’s strategy and the global digital entertainment market, while the accumulated sales figures reflect the dynamics of the sector both in Japan and internationally.
