Volodimir Zelensky received the first Ukrainian drone produced in Germany in Munich

The President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelensky, received this Friday the first Ukrainian drone manufactured in Germany, delivered by the German Defense Minister, Boris Pistorius. The device is the result of a joint project between the companies Quantum Systems and Frontline Robotics.

Pistorius reported from Gauting (Bavaria), within the framework of the Munich Security Conference, that these equipment will go directly to the Ukrainian Army.“The capacity at the moment is 10,000 units per year, but the only upward limit is the company’s capacity,” declared the minister.

The official highlighted the speed of the process, “at the speed of light,” since the signing of the defense cooperation memorandum with Ukraine last October.

The drones produced can be used in combat, reconnaissance or logistical tasks.Pistorius also noted that, in addition to Ukraine, Germany and Europe benefit from the learning and data obtained by the invaded country.

Zelensky thanked Germany for its support and described the project as the largest and fastest established to date with European countries. He highlighted his government’s objective of reaching an end to the conflict with Russia, “but in a fair manner and with a strong position for Ukraine.”

During the event, Zelensky also highlighted the importance of Europe achieving greater autonomy in defense matters with respect to the United States and reiterated kyiv’s desire to join NATO, although he stressed that this decision corresponds to the members of the organization.

In Munich, Zelensky is expected to hold bilateral and multilateral meetings with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, among others.

In another order, the Kremlin confirmed the agreement to resume negotiations on Ukraine next week, after two first rounds in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) under the mediation of the United States.

“There is an agreement that it will, indeed, be next week,” presidential spokesman Dmitri Peskov said during his daily telephone press conference.

Peskov added: “We will inform you about the specific place and date. But it will actually be next week.”

Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky had indicated that Moscow was “hesitant” to continue the three-way talks.

kyiv anticipated that the meeting could take place on February 17 and 18 in Miami, a city that since last year has hosted bilateral consultations between the White House emissary, Steve Witkoff, and representatives of both sides in the conflict.

The two previous meetings in the United Arab Emirates showed that the main obstacles continue to be the territorial issue and security guarantees for Ukraine.

Zelensky maintains the demand to receive guarantees before signing any peace agreement or calling elections, as requested by Moscow and Washington.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that there is still “a long way to go” and criticized the Trump Administration for abandoning the agreements reached at the August 2025 summit in Alaska.

When he refers to Anchorage’s “understandings”, according to the press, he alludes to the need for the Ukrainian army to withdraw from Donbas, while Moscow would agree to freeze the front in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions, where kyiv controls a third of the territory.

The only concrete agreement reached in Abu Dhabi was the exchange of 314 prisoners of war, including several civilians as well as combatants.
