Final Fantasy VII Rebirth comes to Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch 2 in June

Square Enix has confirmed that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the second part of the remake trilogy of its classic RPG, will be released on Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch 2 on June 3, 2026. This launch represents a strategic move to reach a broader audience, including Nintendo players, who received the first installment of the trilogy on Nintendo Switch 2 last January.

After its initial launch on PlayStation 5 in early 2024 and its arrival on PC in January 2025, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is preparing to reach new audiences.Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch 2 users can digitally pre-order the game with a 20 percent discount, an offer valid until June 10.The Digital Deluxe Edition includes additional content such as special summons, exclusive armor, a digital art book, and a mini soundtrack.

The original version for PlayStation 5 and PC will permanently reduce its price in all editions from February 9, 2026, facilitating access for new players. This measure is part of SquareEnix’s strategy to expand the saga between veterans and rookies of all consoles on the market.

One of the biggest challenges in the multiplatform launch of Final FantasyVII Rebirth has been ensuring a visual and gaming experience similar to the original PlayStation 5 version. Naoki Hamaguchi, series director, noted last year that the optimization work carried out on the PC version was essential to adapt the game to the architecture of the Nintendo Switch 2, recognized for its power limitations compared to other desktop consoles.

Thus, specific manual adjustments were made for the Nintendo Switch 2 version, with the aim of ensuring a stable frame rate even in the most demanding scenes.Hamaguchi assured that users can expect an experience as satisfying and high quality as on higher-powered platforms.

New for new and returning players, a feature called Streamlined Progression will be included, which was previously used in Final Fantasy VII RemakeIntergrade for Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series. This feature allows options such as unlimited health and magic, immediate access to weapon skills and maximum damage, making progress easier for those who want to focus on the game’s story and hybrid combat.

The arrival of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series not only generates expectations among fans of the saga, but also offers concrete benefits for players. After years of waiting, Nintendo and Xbox players will be able to continue the story of Cloud Strife, Tifa and Barret almost at the same time as users of other platforms.

On the other hand, the permanent price reduction on PlayStation 5 and PC breaks the increasing trend in the cost of new releases and could lead the industry to offer greater accessibility. This measure occurs in a context of greater competition between consoles and the objective of expanding recognized franchises to a broader player base, especially benefiting those who previously faced economic barriers to access these titles. The combination of promotion, technical quality and exclusive content, according to the most recent data, indicates that Square Enix seeks to satisfy both traditional followers and a new audience attracted by the promise of parity between platforms.
