The conflict between Brooklyn Beckham and his parents intensified again after recent statements by writer and biographer Tom Bower, who stated that David and Victoria Beckham’s eldest son was “used and manipulated” for years by his own family.
Bower, author of the book The House of Beckham: Money, Sex and Power, published in 2024, referred to the issue during an interview on the British program GoodMorning Britain, where he explained his interpretation of the family dispute that has been going on for months.
During his television intervention, the writer maintained that he feels “very sorry” for the 26-year-old, and described his recent public behavior as the result of prolonged pressure.
According to the author, Brooklyn “exploded” after years of living under the weight of fame, media control and the expectations associated with the Beckham name.“He has been used and manipulated,” he said, while suggesting that the situation had become unsustainable for him.
The writer’s words come a week after Brooklyn published a series of messages on Instagram that generated a strong media impact.
In six extensive statements, the young man launched twelve accusations against his parents, in which he assured that they tried to “control the family narrative” and that they had constantly interfered in his relationship with his wife, the American actress Nicola Peltz.
In those messages, Brooklyn stated that he does not want a reconciliation and denied that his wife is the cause of the estrangement.
Among the most notable accusations, Brooklyn pointed out that her mother, Victoria Beckham, had canceled the making of Nicola’s wedding dress “at the last minute” and that she would have subsequently “monopolized” the first dance during the wedding held in Miami in April 2022.
He also stated that during that event he felt “uncomfortable and humiliated,” despite it being a celebration surrounded by celebrities and public figures.
In her publications, Brooklyn Beckham categorically rejected the idea that Nicola Peltz controls her relationship with her family.“That story is completely backwards,” he wrote, adding that he felt controlled by his parents for much of his life.
The photographer also spoke openly about his mental health, stating that he grew up with “overwhelming anxiety” and that, after distancing himself from his family, that feeling has diminished.“I have found peace and relief,” he said.
Tom Bower took up these statements on Good Morning Britain and stated that Brooklyn’s marriage to Nicola marked a turning point.According to the author, since the wedding the young man would have known “a very different type of life” and described the Peltz family as “a normal, hard-working family.”
Bower added that Brooklyn seems to be in a stage of greater personal stability and that “he is very happy with his wife.”
During the interview, the biographer compared the case of Brooklyn Beckham with that of Prince Harry, pointing out that both grew up under enormous public pressure without having developed, in his opinion, the necessary tools to manage it.
The distance between Brooklyn and his parents would have begun to become visible in 2023, especially during the celebrations of David Beckham’s 50th birthday, at which time the first rumors of a family fracture arose.
In recent months, the situation worsened, to the point that, according to the British press, Brooklyn had sent a legal notice to his parents requesting that any contact be made through lawyers.
